When a believer is filled with the Holy Spirit he receives the gift of speaking of tongues; the tongues of angels. 1 Corinthians 13:1 Tongues is just one of the attributes which identifies you as a child of God; a new creation. ”And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”Mark 16:17-18
Merely ask in faith and receive him into your spirit. Once you’ve done this, open your mouth in faith and begin to speak the words in which the Holy Spirit has filled your mouth with.
To build you up. You become powerful when you speak in other tongues. ”But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.” Jude 1:20 Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 14:2,4-5 that he who speaks in an unknowntongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God. And he that speaketh in an unknowntongue edifieth himself and that he would that all speak with tougues. When you speak in tongues you are charging up your spiritual battery. When times come in which you feel as though you can’t make it or have the strength to go on, simply speak in tongues. You will soon notice a force field of power and strength will overtake you. If you’re in the midst of an exam at school and can’t remember the material in which you studies all night, begin to speak in tongues. All the answers will be revealed to you. If you driving down the road and you find yourself about to experience an accident, speak in tongues and your situation will instantly change. When you apply speaking in tongues to your circumstances you begin to possess dominion over all your situations. Did you know that the Bible mentions speaking in tongues 35 times? And although this is a great number of times, often many people still don’t understand the topic, nor do many churches teach on this topic. The power of speaking in tongues should not be overlooked in the life of a child of God. It is a language to God not man. ”he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men but unto God for no man understandeth him…” 1 Corinthians 14:2
Let me be honest here, it’s not for you to understand. God understand and that’s all that matters. Speaking in tongues is praying in the spirit, your human mind can’t comprehend it. For if I pray in an unknown tongue my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.1 Corinthians 14:14 Praying in tongues is far more greater than praying with an understanding of what you’re saying. So my prayer is that you've been enlighten concerning the question, what is speaking in tongues? I charge you today to begin to speak in tongues no matter what others may say about you. What matters is what God says about you. Begin to speak today and unlock mysteries which will advance you into the future God has planned for you. Spend time daily speaking in tongues as you build yourself and your faith up to levels unimaginable. Now you have the answer to anyone else who might ask, what is speaking in tongues? Take what I've said and study the word of God for yourself and become the spiritual giant you were destined to be.
