Lindbergh Persaud, Trinidad & Tobago

The year was 1994. The day was Emancipation day. The event was in the morning. The place was at Toco, Trinidad. The truth is I was no believer. Yet it all took place. My friend’s names (1st,2nd, 3rd,) are not mentioned. I gave this testimony in about three different churches. Now it is revealed the first time on the internet. The order of events may not be too accurate.

The following is a true story. After work, my friends and I went and spent the night at Toco’s beach. In the morning hours, I went to take a leak by a log .As I approached, I noticed some flags and sense something bad would happen. I believe those flags belong to the Baptist’s faith. I think. After, we all went to take a bath.

The water was calm and the sea level was low. We went as far inside until the water was about the level of our shoulder. I was a little distance from my friends. I decided to swim ( I could not ) and when I stood upward, my feet could not touch ground. I tried to swim out.

Now this is where things started to happen. First, I didn’t tell anyone I needed help. Somehow, I heard the 1st friend calling for help. Later, he said that he went to help me but turned back because of the depth. The tide was low at that time.

Second, the 2nd friend heard me calling for help but I didn’t call. He asked the 1st friend (I believe.)what was wrong and he went and held on to my left hand, next to my elbow. He didn’t come close to me because he was afraid I would grab him and both of us would go down.

Third, by this time I became aware that something was by my chest area , next to my left shoulder. It was like a fist or stick pushing upward to keep my body afloat. There was current all around but I did not notice it. They told me.

Fourth, when I tried to stand upward, my head never went down underneath the water. I didn’t drink a mouthful of water. Again, I tried to swim and I was still aware of this “force” like a thick stick below my chest area. I felt it inside my body on the left side.

Fifth, I believe about this time, I became aware of someone touching my fingers. I found it strange and asked myself why is my 2nd friend holding me like this . During this time, my friends were giving me instructions and they were not close to me at all. They were heading in another direction. All this time my left hand was outstretched .I never used my left hand to swim.

I went to touch ground again, I do not know how many times I did that. During the ordeal , thoughts flooded my mind. I said to myself , “Is this the way I would die.”

Sixth, there was a time when I started to get a wonderful feeling and I wished to remain.

Seventh, while still in the water, I saw a thin, tall, well–dressed man walking away from the shore. He was in direct view and in front. He wore a blue jean and a gray jersey. I had never seen him before I entered the water or after I came out of the sea. Why would a well-dressed man walking as if he came out of the sea? I would never know.

Whatever it was that kept me afloat , I don’t know. Whoever was touching (not trying to push me forward) my fingers, I don’t know. The “whoever” and “whatever” carried me until I was able to touch ground with my feet.

Before the event at Toco (a few weeks), I had a dream that I was in Noah’s ark . Those in the ark were hugging each other. I was hugging someone and watching the waves going over the ark through a window at the top. I felt a wonderful feeling of love . Afterward, I saw Noah walking down the steps from the side of the Ark. The Ark had landed on a hill and I had to be outside to see Noah coming down those steps of the Ark. This was the first time I dreamed something in relation to the Bible.

After the ordeal at Toco, a year or so, I had a vision during baptism. I saw a dead body at the bottom of the sea. Afterward, I saw a light over me while my head went down in the water (in the vision ). I felt I could breathe underneath the water and I felt love as if someone care about me.

Why am I mentioning these two events ? Well, I experienced a feeling of love and a wonderful feeling of well - being in all three events.

The 3rd friend said that he didn’t know how my body was floating on the water when I couldn’t swim. He also said that I was under the water. I wasn’t.

The 2nd friend said that current was pulling us inside and he didn’t know how we came out . When I came out of the water, my three friends were walking along the shore to meet me. This proves that the 2nd friend wasn’t the one touching my fingers.Whoever was touching my fingers never let go until I touched the ground . My friends were no way around me when that happen.

When I was in the sea, I mentioned my friends were giving me instructions (of what to do) .They were a distance from me at the time. Therefore , the “force” and the fingers of someone could not be of my friends. I also mentioned we spent the night at the beach and in the morning , there were no persons around in our area.

While my friends were in the water, I saw this thin , tall , well- dressed person walking away from the shore. This proves that one of my friends could not be that person . This is my testimony and I am alive today to share it with you.
