Giving Makes You Happier!

Well to be honest, it does. When you give to others, not only are you receiving great pleasure by their gratitude, but you are also being fulfilled with extreme joy and satisfaction because you have done something nice for someone else.

Whenever you forsake yourself for other you are granted extreme happiness.

I marvel at the fact of how my children are so eager to give to others. Yes, I am a giver in many aspects, but I never said to them giving is something they must do. They took it upon themselves to watch my actions and copy what they saw me doing. For example, when it’s offering time at church I’m excited to give. I march down to the front, or place my offering in the offering bag with a smile. I’m happy that I am blessed to give. They are also merry givers.

But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

And giving is not only limited to money. Anytime you freely give of yourself or your time, not only are you happier, but you are also extremely blessed.

Being a mother of small children I don’t have a lot of time. Often I have to stay in at night to read a book, work on my website or just watch a show in which I recorded earlier. But, I also make it a point to make some time to freely give of myself to others and to the church by helping out where ever I can. Doing for other, especially doing something in the house of the Lord makes me extremely happy.

My life and what I see my children modeling proves to me that giving makes you happier.

”If you know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. John 13:17
