Wisdom is the Principle Thing!

What is Wisdom?

A deep understanding and realizing of people, things, events or situations, resulting in the ability to choose or act to consistently produce the optimum results with a minimum of time and energy.

It is the ability to optimally (effectively and efficiently) apply perceptions and knowledge and so produce the desired results.

It is comprehension of what is true or right coupled with optimum judgment as to action.

Synonyms include: sagacity, discernment, or insight.

Being wise often requires control of one's emotional reactions(the "passions") so that one's principles, reason and knowledge prevail to determine one's actions

Definition taken from the Wikipedia - The Free Encyclopedia

What is being wise according to the Word of God?

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. Psalm 111:10

Alot of the Christians understanding concerning being wise comes from The Book of Proverbs which was written almost entirely by King Solomon.

Within The Book of Proverbs we are taught that being wise is derived from knowledge and understanding.

Diligent listening helps an individual to become wise.

A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: (Proverbs 1:5)

Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. (Proverbs 8:33)

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. (Proverbs 9:9)

The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge. (Proverbs 18:15)

How can one become wise?

God is the one who gives this gift to you! Proverbs 2:6
